Synchronizing Contact Data with Address Book
In order to synchronize Contact data, the Practice Information Powertool 2010
compares each data field (ie., First Name, Last Name etc.) for modifications.
If a data field in PIP Contacts is different than a data field in your Mac Address Book,
you are presented with a screen that allows you to choose which Contact record is the most up-to-date.
Modified fields are highlighted in yellow so they can be easily identified (See the "Contact Sync" screenshot).

Synchronizing Calendar Events with
iCal
The process for synchronizing iCal events with the PIP is very simple.
Events can by synchronized individually or all at once.
To synchronize a single event, use the
button located to the right of the
specific Calendar Event in the Calendar Day View screen.
To synchronize a specific set of Calendar Events, select "Sync ALL Calendar
Events with iCal..." from the iCal menu. You can then choose to
synchronize events based upon your Calendar Filter settings (Status, Staff,
Event Type) or all events (ie., as if all boxes are checked in the Calendar
Filter settings).
Events on or after the currently selected calendar
date will be synchronized. You can limit how far in future (ex. 1 week, 1 month, etc.) to
synchronize events through your individual Staff Member settings in the
Preferences Module.
In order to synchronize Calendar data, the Practice Information Powertool 2010
compares each data field (ie., Start Date, Subject, etc.) for modifications.
If a PIP Calendar Event data field is different than a data field in iCal,
you are presented with a screen that allows you to choose which record is the most up-to-date.
Modified fields are highlighted in yellow so they can be easily identified.

Uploading and Downloading Contact/Calendar Data
The Upload and Download features were designed to allow you to quickly update all of your Contact/Calendar data
in one simple operation.
For new customers who already use Address Book to store their Contact data, the
"Download ALL Contacts from Address Book..." feature will immediately populate your PIP Contacts Module with data,
alleviating the need for manual entry of your Contact data. The same process is available for downloading
Calendar Events from iCal. Once the Calendar Events are in the PIP, you can assign the events to their
respective case files.
For current PIP users, the synchronization modules provide a quick and convenient way to transfer
PIP Contact/Calendar data to your Smartphone. Use the "Upload ALL ..." feature to send the specified group of
Contacts to Address Book, or the specified Calendar Events to iCal, and then sync your Smartphone. It's that easy! |
